Layla is a licensed lawyer and project management specialist with extensive experience in project development and proposal design. She worked before with IOM, IRC, and Chemonics International. Currently, she’s the project manager for the “NextGen Lead” implemented by Moja Organization for Human Rights in partnership with the European Endowment for Democracy. The project aims to foster civic engagement among youth in the middle and southern provinces of Iraq. Layla is also a manager for “Community Connect” a virtual exchange project bringing together university student from Iraq and the U.S. to discuss topics related to both countries’ interests, implemented by Forsa Organization for Educational Development in Baghdad in partnership with Texas International Consortium for Higher Education. Layla is very interested in research and analysis related to Iraq, she was an associate partner for the ELEVATE a research project implemented by Moja and LSE Middle East Center, brought together early career researchers from the UK and Iraq to assess the gaps in women's resilience to climate change effects in Iraq. Layla holds a bachelor's degree in law from the university of Kufa, and a professional diploma in Public Policy from the American University of Sharjah. She’s also a MEPI fellowship alumnus from Duke University.
