  • Laure Guirguis

    Laure Guirguis is a historian who works on the political and cultural history of the Arab world. She wrote a dozen peer-reviewed papers on the sectarian issue in Egypt and the book Copts and the Security State (Stanford UP 2016). Turning to the transnational history of the Arab New Left, she published articles in Critical Histories Studies, Monde(s). Histoire, Espaces, Relations and edited the collection of essays The Arab Left: Histories and Legacies, 1950s-1970s (EUP 2020). Formerly an associate professor and fellow (October 2019-22) at Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies, she was awarded a Humboldt fellowship for experienced researchers to achieve a new project on art and politics between the Arab world and the Southern Cone.
