Malak Altaeb is an independent consultant, blogger, and researcher from Libya and is currently based in Paris, France. She has a master's degree in Environmental Policy from Sciences Po University in Paris and a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Tripoli, Libya. She is a former ecological security fellow at the Center for Climate and Security of the Strategic Risks Institute and a former nonresident fellow with the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP). As a consultant, she has been working on water politics, food security, and climate change policy analysis. For example, she worked at the American University of Cairo, tackling food security and AI in Tunisia, and worked at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) on the circular economy of water in the MENA region. Currently, Malak works as a researcher with the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), working on loss and damage analysis in the case of Storm Daniel in Darna, Libya. She has been actively involved in environmental policy since completing her master's degree in 2020. She has focused explicitly on the water-food nexus, security, and conflict analysis in Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, and the GCC. Her work has been featured in various publications such as the Arab Reform Initiative (ARI), ISPI (Italian Institute for International Political Studies), The Policy Corner, Middle East Institute (MEI), Minority Rights Group International, and the Centre for European Reform (CER).
